Writing Workshop: The Hermit Crab Essay

Like hermit crabs, this type of essay relies on resourcefulness to find new and exciting shells. Learn how to tell stories (both true and imagined) through unconventional formats (ex: shopping lists, application forms). Students will view examples, workshop their ideas, and then create their own hermit crab essay. At the end of the workshop, students will have the option to share their drafts in a supportive environment to receive generative feedback.  Resources will be provided for publication venues. Students will have the opportunity to be included in a student chapbook and participate in a student reading at the end of the season.
